The Jon Schlagenhaft Legacy

For more than three decades, the name Jon Schlagenhaft was synonymous with exquisite interior design well beyond the Milwaukee area. First as an integral associate of the firm of Robert Forrest Designers Ltd., with offices in Milwaukee and Palm Beach, and then through his own eponymous design practice founded in 1991, Schlagenhaft brought a sophisticated, worldly point of view to each and every project that he touched. He was a master colorist and possessed an extensive knowledge of historical architecture, furniture design, art and antiques, while always remaining forward-thinking in his approach. The interiors that he designed during his all-too-short career, many for the industrial and financial leaders of Milwaukee, were uniquely vibrant and timeless; truly treasured by those fortunate enough to have lived in them.

Schlagenhaft’s work consistently captivated the attention of the shelter media, with significant coverage by HGTV and various magazines. In addition, he penned a monthly column, “Schlagenhaft Comments…” for M Magazine, Milwaukee’s signature lifestyle publication. When he and his partner Curtiss Stern lost their lives in a small plane crash, on the way to their beloved cabin at Star Lake, the Milwaukee community lost its leading tastemaker- a void still felt deeply to this day.

Now, Jon Schlagenhaft’s family, especially his niece Kelly Gallion Boecker, are proud to keep his legacy alive through the establishment of SCHLAGENHAFT STUDIO, bringing the highest standards in interior design and decoration back to Milwaukee, with everlasting love and admiration, inspired  by the extraordinary talent that defined Jon Schlagenhaft’s life.
